Tomasz Sobania, self proclaimed Polish “Forrest Gump”
A Biography of Tomasz Sobania
Tomasz Sobania is a 26-year-old ultramarathon runner, author, and motivational figure from Poland whose life has been shaped by an unshakable commitment to endurance, curiosity, and connection. Born with a deep love for running and an even deeper curiosity about the world, Tomasz has turned his physical limits into a personal philosophy: to live fully, connect meaningfully, and inspire others to discover what they’re truly capable of.
Tomasz’s running expeditions have taken him across vast landscapes and into unforgettable encounters. One of his most formative journeys took him from Poland to Rome, where he delivered a letter from a young cancer patient directly to the Pope; an experience he describes as one of the most powerful moments of his life. Whether navigating wildfires, illness, injury, or even robbery on the road, Tomasz has always found a way to keep moving forward, even running two marathons in a single day just to make good on a promise or to reach a goal.
In 2023, driven by a lifelong dream, Tomasz set his sights on his most ambitious challenge yet: running across the United States. Beginning in New York and ending in Los Angeles, his 5 month journey would cover over 3,300 miles, with Tomasz running a full marathon each day. His route passed through Washington D.C., Chicago, Texas, and along the historic Route 66, carefully timed to dodge winter weather and meet as many people as possible along the way.
Running is only part of the mission. His goal is to inspire. Through his physical feats, his storytelling, and his openness to strangers on the road, he hopes to show people that they are capable of more than they believe. He invites others to join him for a mile or a marathon, not just to run, but to believe; in themselves, in possibility, and in the goodness that still exists out there.
Tomasz doesn’t run for records. He runs to remind us that even in a fractured world, there are still moments of connection, beauty, and shared purpose waiting to be found, one step at a time.
